Floor Tiles

Our floor tiles may all be used on walls but it is necessary to check first that the wall will take the weight, which will normally be possible provided the walls will take the weight, which will normally be possible provided the walls are designed correctly. Once fitted, porcelain tiles are difficult to drill, so wall fittings should be placed in position in advance.

Grouts & Adhesives

It is critical to use grouts and adhesives suitable for the type of tile and the particular application. Marlborough Tiles will not take responsibility for any product failure caused through poor fixing or the use of incorrect fixing products.

Substrate

When laying floors it is critical that the substrate is level and that there is absolutely no movement. Movement causes hairline cracks in tiles.

Grout Joints

When laying patterns, use a 2mm joint for rectified tiles and a 5mm joint for non-rectified.

Underfloor heating

Underfloor heating can be installed with all our tiles provided the correct adhesives, grouts and expansion joints are used. In must not be turned on for at least a week after completion of tiling or it will cause movement cracks in the tiles.

Sealer

Our Napoli Stone mosaic requires sealing with Marlborough Tiles Stone Sealer.

External use

Our frost resistant floor tiles can be used externally, but careful consideration should be given to factors which may cause them to be slippery eg slopes, mud, lichen, frost etc.

Cleaning & maintenance

Our floor tile collections should be cleaned using a soft cloth and mild detergent, or with a proprietary cleaner suitable for the type of tile.
