Originally introduced in the early 1990s, Marlborough Tiles' award-winning Lustre collection returns with a fresh perspective, celebrating one of our most distinctive ranges through a softer, more contemporary lens. Made in our Wiltshire factory, this new interpretation showcases seven newly developed colours, created to highlight the beauty and complexity of traditional lustre glazing.

Drawing inspiration from the decorative elegance of historic European interiors, from the opulence of Marie Antoinette's France to the refined symmetry of the Georgian era, Lustre brings classical influences into modern spaces. A softly textured surface and luminous finish create walls with depth, character and a quiet sense of luxury.

A heritage of colour

The defining feature of our Lustre collection is its delicate hand glazed finish. Unlike a traditional high-shine surface, each tile has a subtle iridescence that gently reflects its surroundings, revealing nuanced shifts in tone and depth as the light changes throughout the day.

The palette combines soft neutrals, delicate pastels and richer, more expressive shades, carefully balanced to work beautifully together or make an individual statement. Developed with the elegance of historic interiors in mind, these colours create spaces that feel considered, layered and effortlessly refined.

The unique nature of lustre glazing means that each colour will respond differently depending on its environment. Natural and artificial light, alongside surrounding materials such as paint colours, cabinetry and worktops, can influence the way each shade is perceived. We recommend ordering samples to view within your own space, allowing you to experience how the tiles interact with the light and finishes around them before making your final selection.

Honouring 90 years of British craft

Our reimagined Lustre collection celebrates nine decades of British ceramic craftsmanship. Originally introduced in the early 1990s by second-generation owner of Marlborough Tiles, Alastair Robb, as the last collection he curated before passing the family business to the next generation, led by his son Jamie Robb, Lustre has been thoughtfully reimagined to honour both its heritage and its enduring appeal. Today, each tile is individually hand glazed in our Wiltshire factory using bespoke glaze formulations, preserving the specialist techniques and knowledge that have shaped our craft for generations. Through this meticulous process, subtle variations naturally occur in colour, texture and finish, giving every tile its own distinctive character. These individual nuances are what make handmade ceramics so unique, creating surfaces with warmth, movement and authenticity.

Inside the collection

Available in three handmade formats - the 7.5x15cm Medium Brick, 13x13cm Square and 10x20cm Large Brick - the Lustre collection is brought to life through seven softly reflective glazes, from delicate Pearl White and Duck Egg Blue to the rich depth of Shadow Green and Sunset Pink. Together, they invite everything from quiet, tonal compositions to more expressive, light-filled interiors.

Suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, cloakrooms, fireplaces and feature walls, this collection of lustre finish tiles offers a versatile approach to interior design. Each glaze is also available across our range of handmade trims and border pieces, allowing every installation to be completed with beautifully coordinated detailing.
