The White Hart collection receives prestigious Design Guild Mark

Marlborough Tiles is awarded the Design Guild Mark recognising outstanding excellence in design, for its White Hart collection in collaboration with Sims Hilditch

Marlborough Tiles is proud to announce that The White Hart collection, created in collaboration with renowned British interior design studio Sims Hilditch, has been awarded the esteemed Design Guild Mark in recognition of outstanding excellence in design.

Designed by Emma Sims Hilditch in close partnership with Marlborough’s skilled in-house artists, The White Hart collection draws inspiration from British flora and fauna and the gentle rhythms of the countryside. The collection features four hand painted motifs - a Tulip, Wild Strawberry, Oak Leaf and Mistletoe - each delicately rendered to tell a subtle, seasonal story through refined brushwork.

The White Hart collection, a contemporary take on Delft, made its debut at WOW!House 2025, in The Courtyard Room by Emma Sims Hilditch.

The Design Guild Mark celebrates Marlborough Tiles’ thoughtful balance of innovation, craftsmanship and enduring appeal, as expressed through The White Hart collection. Reinterpreting traditional Delftware, The White Hart collection introduces a vivid blue stain, offering a fresh and contemporary perspective while retaining the timeless charm of classic ceramics. Its flexible design enables a wide range of layouts, from understated accents to full decorative panels, providing versatile solutions for both interior designers and homeowners.

Jamie Robb, Owner and Creative Director at Marlborough Tiles said:

“Receiving the Design Guild Mark for The White Hart is a proud moment for our team. It recognises both the strength of the design and the exceptional skill of our in-house artists.

"At a time when so much is mass-produced, it also highlights the enduring value of artisan craftsmanship and the continued relevance of traditional tile making in a contemporary context.”

Each tile is hand painted on 11x11cm terracotta, featuring a bright white or off-white background that enhances both durability and tactile quality. Suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces, the collection successfully merges aesthetic beauty with practical performance.

Drawing on artisanal techniques used by our talented artists since 1936, each Delft tile is carefully hand painted; every brushstroke brings subtle variations that give the collection its distinctive charm.

Crafted using the traditional Majolica technique - a method practiced by Marlborough Tiles since its founding in 1936 - every piece reflects a rich heritage of artisanal skill. The tiles exhibit depth, texture and individuality, seamlessly combining time-honoured processes with a modern design sensibility.

This collaboration further reinforces Marlborough Tiles’ position as a leader in bespoke, hand-painted tiles. The White Hart collection exemplifies the brand’s commitment to British craftsmanship, artistic integrity and meaningful design.
