We are delighted to share that our Classic Delft collection has been awarded Best Tile Collection in the 2025 Homes & Gardens Design Awards.
These prestigious awards celebrate the very best in design and decoration, judged by a panel of experts from the worlds of interior design, architecture, product design and style. With a focus on originality, creativity and craftsmanship, the awards spotlight work that both delights and sets a new standard.
On awarding Marlborough Tiles with the title, Homes & Gardens editor Jo Bailey praised:
“We loved the timeless elegance and exquisite hand-painted detail of these Delft tiles. Their craftsmanship, versatility and enduring appeal make them a worthy award winner, perfectly balancing heritage with contemporary interiors.”
Launched in 2024, our Classic Delft collection draws inspiration from centuries of Delftware tradition, while embracing the individuality of contemporary design. Each tile is hand painted to order in our Wiltshire studio using the rare and intricate ‘wet on wet’ Majolica technique, where pigment is brushed directly onto raw glaze. This preserves the artist’s brushstrokes in the final firing, giving each tile a distinctive and painterly quality.
Jamie Robb, Marlborough Tiles' owner, explains:
"Our Classic Delft collection is steeped in history. Each tile is hand painted here in Marlborough, using traditional techniques that echo the craftsmanship of 17th-century Dutch Delftware. It’s a collection that speaks to our love of heritage and of keeping these age-old skills alive."
The collection comprises 30 traditional motifs, each painted and signed by hand. But what truly sets Classic Delft apart is its versatility: customers can choose their motifs, select from different tile sizes and glazes, decide between bold or softer pigment, and even specify their corner motifs. The result is a bespoke composition, rich with detail and entirely unique.
"There’s something irresistibly timeless about Delft", Jamie continues. "The delicate brushwork, the storytelling scenes, and those soft washes of cobalt blue bring a sense of quiet elegance to any space. It’s a style that never really goes out of fashion.”
From subtle classical layouts to bold statement installations – such as the maximalist kitchen shown below – Classic Delft is designed to be as individual as the home it inhabits. Our interactive online visualiser allows customers to explore and design their arrangement before placing an order.
“We’re seeing a real resurgence in Delft at the moment, both here in the UK and across the USA", says Head of Sales and Marketing, Cassie Maxfield.
"People are being drawn to pieces that have soul and authenticity, and Delft tiles offer exactly that: a way to bring artistry, history and character into the home.”
In an era where provenance and meaning matter, Classic Delft offers something rare and lasting: a collection that is not only handmade and hand painted, but also completely one of a kind.
