Bloomsbury

The Bloomsbury Collection from Marlborough Tiles celebrates the spirit of England’s artists and writers of the Bloomsbury group, and the layered, expressive interiors of their Charleston farmhouse. Handmade in our Wiltshire studio with our signature crackle glaze, these wall tiles present a palette from dusty pinks through inky blues to smoky greens. Ideal for kitchen splashbacks, cottage bathrooms or statement feature walls, each tile is finished with subtle tonal variation and a tactile depth that only true craftsmanship delivers.

Available in both square and brick formats with a full range of matching trims and borders, the Bloomsbury collection is designed to be mixed, matched and framed. Whether in a kitchen, bathroom or hallway, it brings a quiet sense of story, artistry and timeless English style.

Bloomsbury frequently asked questions

The Bloomsbury collection is comprised of 13 curated colours, inspired by the timeless tones used the Bloomsbury artists, and the colours found at their home, Charleston farmhouse.

Each tile has a gently undulating surface and rounded edges for a classic look which reflects light around your room. The delicate crackle glaze finish over the surface of the tile gives real depth to the colour and an artisan character that varies from tile to tile - a hallmark of real handmade ceramics.

The unique colours, developed in our Marlborough laboratory, are designed to work independently or together, to create a scheme that is truly perfect for your home.

The collection is comprised of two sizes - a square and rectangle - and can be complemented with matching (or contrasting if you prefer!) glazed trim tiles, to finish the space.

The Bloomsbury collection is offered in square 13x13cm size and a 13x6.3cm small brick.

We can also glaze a range of complementary trim tiles, such as dado bolection borders and Quarter Round finishing pieces, in your choosen Bloomsbury colour - see more here: https://www.marlboroughtiles.com/shop/trim-pieces

These tiles are suitable for use on internal walls including kitchen splashbacks, utility rooms, bathrooms, wetrooms and showers, fireplaces, hallways and feature walls. They can also be used to tile worktops, shelves and counters.

Their glazed finish makes them resistante to moisture meaning they work beautifully around sinks, in wetrooms and in bathrooms.

They should not be used on the floor, as the glossy finish could make the tiles slippery if wet.

No, Bloomsbury tiles are designed as wall tiles only and are not suitable for flooring or areas requiring slip resistance.

Our lead time to make and dispatch plain, coloured wall tiles is typically 2-3 weeks, as we make the tiles to order. You can keep updated with all our product lead times here.

Alternatively, our team can help if you send your measurements and photos.

Yes, all crackle glaze tiles, including Bloomsbury, require sealing after installation to protect the glaze and help maintain its finish. We recommend Marlborough Tiles Crackle Glaze Sealer.

You can learn more about how to seal your tiles here: https://www.marlboroughtiles.com/care

After sealing and installation, we recommend cleaning your tiles with a mild cleaner and hot water, and avoid abrasive products or scourers to preserve the glaze finish long term. Regular gentle cleaning will keep tiles looking their best.

Yes, you can mix colours from within the Bloomsbury collection together, and pair with tiles from other handmade collections.
